Wall Painting

Earlier this month, my friend got married. Hurray! For her bachelorette party we had a wild night out at Cocktails and Canvas. We brought yummy desserts and drank wine and each left with our very own Fall inspired painting. It was a lot of fun! Thanks A for getting married.

I have hung my painting above our buffet table in the dining room. I have high hopes of re-creating this painted scene with each new season. So, this month I will paint the landscape in the dead of winter, snow filled branches, low moon, you get the idea. I will then do a painting for spring and summer of the same landscape. Like I said, I have high hopes. This is my attempt at celebrating the changing of the seasons all year long. Stay tuned!

Craft Wednesday

A few weeks ago my family and I spent 4 days at our cabin on Lake Rabun in North Georgia. It was a cozy four days filled with little kids, coffee, boat rides, bonfires, good food, games and long nights!

While we were there, I introduced DecoArt Snow-Tex to my family. We gathered pine cones throughout the week and one afternoon we painted the snow-tex onto the pine cones and they turned out lovely! It is so quick and easy. You just apply the product with a sponge brush and then let it dry for 2-3 hours. You get a surplus of a popular store bought item for around $3.00!

My Favorite Reading Nook

Everyone has their favorite spot to read. This is mine. I like it morning, noon and night. It is comfy, with the plush puff chair and ottoman which saddles up right next to mementos of my Dad. The creme colored furniture piece was a hand-me-down from both my sisters. It has lived in Athens, GA, Chicago, IL, Baltimore, MD, Knoxville, TN and now it is back in GA. With every move I plan on getting rid of it, but this time I painted it a fresh creme and used it for my reading nook. It now holds pictures of some of my favorite people as well as my steaming hot cup of coffee. All I need now is a good book! Any suggestions?

Craft Wednesday

Christmas is coming! Well, that was not my original inspiration behind today's craft. It just kind of worked out like that. Last week I was at Michael's and bought half a dozen birdhouses for $1.00 each. Good deal! I had planned on taking them on a trip to the mountains to do as a craft with all my little nieces and nephews. Well, I ended up painting them with my older niece, A. I was really pleased with how mine tuned out, so thought I would use it for this week's craft. I gathered a bunch of sticks and broke them down to about an inch long and set them aside. Next, I painted the entire birdhouse as a background color. When the paint dried, I applied a thin coat of wood glue to each side with a sponge brush and then made a small glob of glue on my paper plate. I dipped each stick into the glue and then placed it on the birdhouse. It took about 30 minutes to add sticks to all the sides. Finally I finished it off with a layer of DecoArt Snow-Tex to make it look all warm and cozy and Christmasy. Volia!
